I don't get this.

In 1996 when Des runs off to the fone box to fone Penny, he dials and gets through. Tho is told by Penny not to come round cos she's moved.
The whole thing about his jumping is getting her tel no from 1996.
So if Des didn't know it her new no after her move (which she had already done at fone call), how did he fone her initally in 1996?
He dialls again in 1996 from Faradays Oxford 'back room' and the no he dials is disconnected.

I can't see this as a writting error, the writers aint that lazy to just think 'ahh well never mind, has to to fit in with the story line'.

She still had the same number when she moved, as you can do but then in Faraday's office when he tried ringing again he worked out it'd been disconnected so she'd got a new number [to stop Des ringing?] so he needed the new number
Simple enough for me to understand
