the phone number isn't a real one. The number should be (020) 79460893. It was one of the clues in the find815 game.

The prefix 947 is a fake one used by tv programmes for british numbers. Its like the prefix 555 in america.

Telephone Numbers for drama purposes (TV, Radio etc) | Ofcom


If you dial this number from within london you will get a blank dial tone (because it automatically adds the 020), but if you phone from outside of london and don't add the crucial 020, you are actually phoning 794608, (your phone ignores the last 2 digits that you phone.

I think the fact that dialling codes changed in London between 1996 and 2004 is a mistake on behalf of the lost team. There were no 7 digit London codes in 1996.

I think this is just a case of bad research on the half of the writers.

79460893 is NOT supposed to work. it is a number used for TV only. If you live within london and give someone else your number, you don't need to dial the first 020, so London numbers DO have 8 digits.

If you include the 7 twice, you are actually dialing 020 7794 6089. The 3 doesn't count, because London phone numbers are only 11 digits MAX. This number is not the one given out on Lost, and you are just harrasing some poor woman who is probably in the process of getting her number changed!!

You are right. On lostpedia it is stated that the number used on the show is reserved for TV shows like this. If people are getting though to a poor women then somone made a boob along the line.

I hope she doesnt change her number - it is extremely important that I call in 8 years time
