When the phone is ripped from Des in the sickbay, and Keemi/Ray (?) shout "You let him talk to Faraday?!!", Frank says "He said he could help", Keemi/Ray replied "Faraday can't even help himself!".
This really jumped out and made me think of Boone taking Locke through the airport. When he's giving a little running commentary of all the Losties he says [about Desmond], "You can't do anything for him. He's helping himself" (owwte). And obviously Des did manage to help himself. Now, I know this is going away from this episode now but I was wondering if anyone can remember the specifics about what Boone said about other people. And how relevant it will turn out to be. My goldfish memory is a curse! ![]() And will Daniel be able to 'help himself'? Will he be able to make further contact with Des (his constant) now that they're separated by water? (Roco, if you think this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move it. )

That is an interesting idea, I totally forgot about that episode. I'll be right back and see what I can find out about the other people. Ok here is a Boone talking about everyone in the airport.
BOONE: John, someone in this airport is in serious danger. You are the only one who can save them. [We see Charlie and Claire cooing over Aaron and Locke points at them.] BOONE: Not them, they'll be fine -- for a while. [Locke sees Sayid, Sun and Jin. He points as Jin and Sun argue. Sayid pats Jin's back.] BOONE: I think Sayid's got it. [Locke sees Hurley working as an Oceanic counter person. Hurley types the numbers into the computer.] BOONE: Not Hurley. [Locke sees Desmond dressed as a pilot walking and laughing with some beautiful flight attendants.] BOONE: Forget it. He's helping himself. [Locke sees Kate and Sawyer, very chummy in line. He sees Jack going through a metal detector, and getting wanded by Ben. Locke starts waving his arm frantically.] BOONE: There's nothing you can do for them. Not yet. First you have to clean up your own mess.

But we know that Charlie carked it, but Boone says they. Could he mean Claire too? Something must have happened to her for Kate to end up with Aaron. I doubt Claire just did one as soon as they got back ![]()

Interesting, SP. It's useful to have another look at things like this and it ties in nicely with 4.05 so it's fine here

). Kate agreeing to take Aaron cos she knew it would help her 'case' back home. Which could mean that Claire is still alive on the island. But as you said, it's certainly possible that she croaked it. As for Boone's (whether it was spirit Boone or island Boone) message it's interesting note that it/he can see into the future - since it/he knew the relative outcomes of those respective individuals. With this in mind and applied to the context of the reason 'Constant', it could be argued that the island (or the island's dead) can see into the future..what does this say about the island? To me it suggests that the island is clearly trying to coerce a specific end (as many of us speculate)..which further makes me worry about Locke and his current lack of 'any' freewill. Afterall, what makes Ben and the island so different? In my mind it's the connection that Locke has with the island - a connection he's been searching for his whole life. As Locke said, 'the island brought them here', but the island also knows what is going to happen - which means it's already happened before (loops? time and space viewing?) - the island is now seemingly trying to make changes to time's tapestry. Now I'm a man of faith and i'd probably be much like Locke on the island (actually more like Eko, since his faith was actually tied to Christianity and not an 'island' ), but a man cannot have two faiths, so i'm afraid the island wouldn't have me seduced completly unless there was evidence that it was a tool of God.I like the island and I'd be open to signs..but one has to have faith in the 'right' things. But I guess "To question is human, to believe is human nature" ![]()
