Default The 'sickness' = time travel brain melt?

This just hit me. Theres been constant mention of the 'sickness', which happens to people on the island, ie: the quaranteen, and danielle's crew. I wonder if what we witnessed with desmond, minkowski and faraday is that 'sickness?' it would make sense to me, people become 'infected' by electromagnetic currents (or something lol), and after going crazy, eventually die, via brain-melt.

Course, if this is true, it doesnt explain the vaccination thing. I mean you cant be vaccinated against electromagnetic currents can you?

I just read that as a given tbh. I think it seems more than likely that the symptoms we saw George, Des etc suffer are what Danielle's team experienced. And the 'vaccine' is most likely whatever Dr Ray was injecting into George. Though to be fair, it evidently isn't a vaccine (or a very good one!) seeing Des took it so long and it didn't save George.

Maybe it actually enhances their abililty to experience the time travel...

I mentioned this earlier today, but kudos on making a thread about it.

The injection Ray gave George was a tranquiliser, not the Vaccine imo.

It is interesting that out of the 100's of people whom have arrived on the Island, only a handful have experienced the Sickness. How ironic that after years of taking the Vaccine, Desmond would eventually become sick.

Faraday is not YET sick is he? He has Desmond as his Constant just incase he experiences the Sickness.

But if Des injected himself for 2 years [or how ever long it was] wouldnt it of prevented him from becoming sick because I'm guessing it would still be in his body?

i dont think the injection really did anything, maybe it was another dharma pseudo-phsycological test thing? Who knows.

Thanks TOO, for making me laugh for the 1st time today! I've been in a crappy mood all day and that really made me chuckle.

But really, I did just assume that the writers were explaining the sickness things to us now. Especially when we knew that Danielle's team had appeared crazy and then it had killed them. It's definitely exceeded my expectations of how they were going to explain that one away.

Yeah, I'll be interested to know what exactly it is in the injections. I wonder if it's the same as what Claire was injected with...or more to the point, Aaron. The others were injecting her in the stomach after all so I'd assume it was Aaron they were trying to administer it to...

Not necessarily as you you need to continue medication to prevent any illness, and the time travel sickness is typically something I would imagine would need continuous treatment. Perhaps it blocks the mind's ability to become unstable, as we saw in The Constant.

It definitely did something as George went into a state of complete relaxation.

Those injections were to prevent her miscarrying I thought? Or atleast that is what Jules explained to the Survivors in S3.

Hmmm...I don't think we can take what Juliet said as gospel given how many times she's changed her loyalties. I think there's likely to be more to it than that. Especially seeing as Aaron was conceived off island. The risk of miscarriage was surely minimal.

That is true but she seemed fully committed to the Survivors by this point. Though why only give the Time Travel medication to Claire and Aaron? Perhaps Aaron was seen as more valuable.

lol, i know that mood all too well. Glad i made you laugh

Well whether its right or not (it most likely is) i think we'll get confirmation when we finally see that damn danielle flashback. That should be an interesting episode!

I have no clue about the injections, but im suspicious of them. I dont think that stuff is helping the people its injected into.

Would it be possible that everyone on the island needs a constant in order to survive there. And that the injections which were being used were a way of providing a constant(who knows what it is). The constant doesnt he to be a person.

Although this would mean that everyone of the crash survivors have a constant??
