Ok something's just hit me
I was looking through pics just then and saw a picture of Desmond's eye and we all know how Lost has a eye fetish if you will so I was wondering could the eye thing possible be linked in with this episode in anyway as Mr Boat Doc [new nickname sorry

] said 'I need to look at/check your eyes' or something along those lines so is the whole eye thing just kind of a Lost theme or is it something more?

Just seems to be a theme... perhaps they're tuning into the whole 'window to your soul' idea. Alternatively it could be some sort of long-standing foreshadowing, e.g. Joe saves the world by doing something with his eye.

I think the reason why the doctor wanted to check Des's eyes was to determine whether he was experiencing the same thing as Minkowski (ie going back and forth in time) as they mentioned that you phase out when it happens - as we saw with Minkowski when his eyes glazed over as he was experiencing time traveling (or whatever u call it).

So it seems that the doc is well aware of this time phenomenom and that it affects certain people.

Yeah, I think it's another way of extending the eye theme, as well as a clever nod to the 'flashes before your eyes' episode/theme..

The eyes are deffo back in force this season tho.

hmmm. I Know the eye thing was to check Desmond's responses and all but idk I still think it's more than a theme. Especially with the whole winking thing going on now.

There was an eye advert on when I wrote this!

Not sure why he wanted to check his eyes quite frankly, other than it being your typical Doctor examination whenever something is wrong with you. Perhaps he was looking for something specific, i.e. perhaps people who have the Sickness have abnormal eye movements?

Their eyes didnt move and didnt it send Desmond back into the past because he did it himself with the torch.

Desmond's eyes flickered back and forthe, while the eye examination did not trigger the flash - it was just a coincidence imo because when Desmond tried it I thought it did not work?
