Should we be Weary of Faraday?

This episode established the idea that Daniel Faraday has memory issues (it may even be more complicated that that - I sense he specifically has issues with 'sequences').

This now helps to tidy up why he was crying at the start of "Confirmed Dead" (whilst watching news footage of 815):

Woman: "Why are you crying, Daniel?"

Daniel: "I don't know"

It now seems clear that there may be more to Daniel than meets the eye. In that "CD" scene he probably knew why he was crying seconds earlier..before he forgot. This seems to suggest that he has a pre-island connection with someone who was on the plane. Some have pointed to a 'chemistry' between himself and Kate - in this episode (Eggtown), Daniel's playing card was painted on a picture in Aaron's room..that's Kate's Aaron.

SO..this could well suggest that Faraday has a pre-island connection with one of the following:

Kate..Aaron..Claire..Jack..Christian

It's a spider web of relationships, but it could well be possible.

The alternative suggestion imo is that Faraday simply has a connection with 'the island' - however this is more murkey and harder to fathom..unless, like Locke, 'the island brought him here'.

Anyway, what i'm also wondering is whether we can trust the current Faraday that we see before us - the stumbling, yet lovable genius (who packs a gun in his back pocket)? If he doesn't know who he is, can we really be sure that we do...

I agree, anyone that just comes on the show I automatically don't trust. I don't know why, but I trust Faraday. It could be the writers messing with us though, Dan could be this cold blooded killer. Although I don't see it....

Yeah, he does seem like a really nice guy (and I also like him) and I think that some where along the line he may have to make a choice about which side he's on, as I don't think his employers are as nice as he is.

Although in saying that his memory issues do make me question who the real Faraday is
