Whilst I do expect to see the freighter any episode now - the dark recessess of my mind are still left wondering..is there really a ship??

-No word from Minkowski and when he does come to the phone, he's always busy.
-Most other vessels which come to the island end up crashing into it (The Black Rock, The Elizabeth, Daniels Ship..) - how is a freighter supposed to casually pull up to the island?
-If a boat was able to pull up to the island then it would surely suffer severe damage due to the islands 'snowglobe', and the time-difference which is created at the demarcation line between the island and the outside world. Look at what happened to 815, for example.
-Regina sounds shifty - put the damn man on the phone already!

Ok, not as much evidence as I thought, but still..is it possible that there is no boat and the freighties simply used a portal (or something) to arrive on the island. This is slightly negated by Daniel's genuine concern about Frank making it back to the ship - but hey, he's got a memory like a sieve, he's probably forgotten that there's no boat.

No doubt we'll see the boat in the next episode, which will then nullify this thread.

Still, the "Valis" reference (in this eppy), which teaches us to question perception, makes this worth considering imo.

i'm half expecting rousso (spelling) to be the spy on the boat lol, didnt she crash on the island on a scientific ship, and with this hole time displacemnt theory, y not lol?
plus i dont think they have ever done a flash back of her, and maybe ben is really alex's father lol

in reference to you saying the black rock etc. have crashed into the island... the freighter isn't that closer to the island. i guess it would be a few miles away.

Hmm, how many miles, or Kilometers away was it when Jack made 'that' call?

taffy - Not sure about Rousseau being Ben's spy - although when he asked her for a 'favour' in 4.01, I was expecting it to be revealed that they were in cahoots then.

This man on their boat thing - I'm thinking that he worded it to mean that he has someone who is 'currently' on their boat - ruling out the likes of Rousseau, Miles and even the ever-dubious Alpert. Although of course, he might not have meant what he said in the present-tense.

Yeah, there's still the possibility that Ben really is Alex' father - although he genuinely seemed to indicate that she wasn't (i.e. handing her over to Rousseau)
