From Daniel, With Love x

Noticed this whilst looking through the screencaps for something else - In the 2nd cap there appears to be a card stuck (or painted?) on the bicycle painting..a 6 of clubs to be precise (well, it's certainly a 'club', not sure on the 6) - which is the same card that was in Daniel's little memory scene with Charlotte (caption 1).

Now I'm not sure what this could mean exactly - I know some have speculated that there's an existing chemistry between Kate and Faraday, but what would she being doing with one of his cards..or rather, what would the significance of this be, cos it seems really weird for TPTB to put that card there if it had no relevance..

Does it contain a message from Daniel on the back-side of the card?

I'm not sure it hints at a relationship, since in this episode Kate clearly wanted Jack to come round for some lovin'...although that's never stopped her playing two men at the same time before, so..

Perhaps the card represents what it did in Daniel's scene with Charlotte - 'Memory'. Perhaps it's symbolic of the idea that she still has this great burden on her shoulders over leaving people behind on the island? Perhaps there are 'six' people still on the island, since it's a six of clubs?

Perhaps it's a 6 for the Oceanic 6. Or for 6 dead. 'Clubs'. Maybe not. This episode made me think that Kate may be a little psycotic. I didn't know until the end that Aaron was her 'son', and it put all her lovingly mentioning of her 'child' and her 'baby'. Hers. Not anyone elses. Why would she put a card there to remind her of the island, and of the kids mother she left behind?

I'm thinking it probably symbolises 6 being the Oceanic 6. No idea of the symbolism of it being related to Daniel though...

I love Daniel. Lol. Everytime there's a thread about Daniel i feel the need to point that out!! Can we get one of those smilies with 'I <3 Daniel' instead of Ben and Juliet and whatever others there are?!

Actually it looks to me like they could be spades. But that's just being petty lol. I don't think that it is anything serious or will lead to any revealed secrets but it is a very well spotted easter egg

It doesn't look like a real card... more like a part of the painting... I think the card is more important that it appears twice, than it has anything to do with a Kate/Daniel connection... possibly that particular car is important... are any cards visible during the Jack/Sawyer poker game?

Okay, maybe I'm missing something. I've seen the card in the painting before, but what is the top picture from? Is Kate holding that card that is backwards? I think I might be blind. lol

Cheers peeps, I stumbled upon it whilst looking for villainous Kate screencaps and the Daniel/Charlotte scene was still in my mind so I related it to that, and it seems to fit.

Yeah, good point about the six possibly referring to the "O6" as opposed to 'six' people being left behind on the island, or whatever. Possibly symbolic more than anything, although it's strange that the card would be painted onto (or within) this painting - does this in itself suggest something? Possible allusions to the perception/memory metaphor that seems strong throught S4?

Should also not that there's been quite a lot of 'games' referenced so far this season:

Cards - Daniel, Charlotte and Kate
Backgammon - Locke and Ford

Chess - Matthew and Hugo

Well, perhaps not as many as I thought, but still quite alot for 4 episodes - any more?
