Why 3.2 mil?

So am i the only person interested by this? Why is Miles so desperate for 3.2 million dollars exactly?? why not 3, or 3.5? If he wanted the money just out of greed, i dont see why he would have left the .2 in there. Miles clearly needs the money for something important, the question is what?

It is weird. I've heard a few people thinking it was perhaps a 'code' of some sort. (Who's to say Miles isn't Ben's spy??)

"I want 3.2 million" could mean "my cover is still good" or something...

Assuming Miles pulls it off (and considering we've seen Ben off-island in the Flashforward) then maybe Miles is on Ben's "list" of targets for Sayid?

Sure, Miles may have been paid off but what's stopping him spilling the beans about Ben being alive. Also, when Sayid said: "But they'll know we're coming for them" and Ben replies "Good". Maybe this is also a hint to the fact people believe Ben to be 'dead', thus fueling more claims Miles goes through with it...

Of course, I've totally side stepped the issue of why such a specific amount. I really haven't a clue...

Very nice thinking re: both those ideas. If Miles wanted a pay-off, why not round it off to a nice $5 million. Not to mention Miles' plan is unlikely to work - i.e. he will not get away with it for several reasons.

If Ben pays him the 3.2, who is the say Miles will not demand more later on? Constant blackmail. Perhaps denying more funds, Miles tells all and Ben recruits Sayid. Though I am unsure as to how this ties in with Sayid protecting his friends.

The last episode brought LOST into the world of economics..therefore I think t'is all economics.

Miles knows the value of Ben and importantly has shown that he can be bought.

Although I do suspect that there is more to it. He could well be Ben's inside man - he did ask for "privacy" after all.. ..and he can speak to ghosts (see Jacob)..could make for much sense really.

Tho I would still prefer for Ben's 'I-M' to be Minker's or Michael.

I have a feeling Miles was smt to do with all that heroin or cocaine in the statues that Charlie found in the light plane crash in series 2 (i think). We didn't hear anything more of it, and surely any dealer wud want all that back.
He needs the money to pay back his dealers / bosses.

As Miles said he knows who Ben is, what he can do.
So if Ben has access to that sort of cash, it obviously can't be all his. Must be his employers. He spent a lot of time on island, so surely wud be hard to run companies from there to make that.

Miles is not the cleverest of people as surely the more people that know his plan, the more likely it is not going to work. So it would make sense that the 3.2 [as someone mentioned before] is code language. Ben and Miles would make the perfect team imo - both 'criminally insane'.

Nice idea - though I always felt the plane was a coincidence purely for Eko's path - it fuelled his belief into pushing the button while also allowing him to say goodbye to Yemi. There must have been millions of dollars worth of heroin in that plane. I would not rule out a link between the young man Miles visited and the drug plane.

I have kind of forgotten about the idea that Ben works for someone, because he gives the impression he is the 'big cheese' as it were. I wonder whether it is Ben's money or his employers as you say.
