Ok, so let me get this right - 'Eggtown' is a reference to the agreement Kate made to stay within the state?

It's like one of those anonymous towns which habour people who need to have their identity protected (kept secret), right? A bit like an 'Eureka' only without the great scientific minds..?

Eggtown is about anonymity, right?

Or is it in reference to something else?

I thought it was about babies myself, i.e. the Sawyer-pregnancy and Aaron issues however your idea sounds much better.

I wonder whether it parallels with the Island - perhaps the idea that Kate was "supposed" to stay at the Barracks but wound up leaving the Island.

An Eggtown is essentially a bad deal. Back in the olden days if you traded something for eggs, then that was an Eggtown. Since Eggs are easy to get, and are rather perishable.

This episode shows several bad deals that are made. Kate makes a deal to get info from Miles, but in the process looses her citizenship to the barracks.

And Miles makes a deal to be 3.2 mil, but instead ends up with a grenade in his mouth.

Yeah makes perfect sense now.

To make it more literal, I guess we could also throw in the fact that Locke literally made 'eggs' for Ben in an attempt to barter (exchange) with him. However Locke ended up getting the bad end of the deal (the 'Eggtown') as Ben simply got inside his head and Locke ended up smashing the eggs against the wall. lol.

Locke told Ben that the eggs he gave him were the last two (because he killed the chicken so therefore no more eggs) so given Mal's explanation of Eggtown being a bad deal and Locke using up the last of the eggs does that mean that Locke's bad deal is now at an end
