Why did Kates lawyer want to use her son who were suppousedly persume to be Aaron (in the lie). Hes waaayyy to young to be any sort of witness.
They just wudn't use a 2/3 year old in a court case for muerder & fraud. So does Kate have another son or smt? She was very tentitive to go near Aaron at the barracks. A hint at smt. She also seems very sure to not be pregneant. Maybe its not possible for her. And Sawyer said to her in bed "Come on Kate we never done it before" (Or did he say 'we didn't do it before', as in the night b4. Wud make more sense). Kinda confusing, why was there any question of pregneancy then? |

Not sure...
As esn says, I think they were going to use him as a character witness; i.e. Kate's parenting ability. Having her son - well looked after, and cared for - would have aided in giving Kate sympathy. The fact she didn't want her son involved points toward some character growth for Kate; she didn't mind using Sawyer, but she seems completely against using her 'own' son.

this is for the same reasons that they want him there in the first place - a 2 year old doesnt know how to lie, especailly when told to tell the turth in a court of law. on the other hand, if they fear a spanking from the mother...or, more likely, she thought and was worried (naturally) that the experience might be too stressful for a 2 year old child. I thought this very strange as well. How can a two year old testify? How can it make any sort of worthy judgement on character? Far too young. I think you might be onto something.

And any other child would have to be born after the island, hence meaning that they would be too young to testify. |

i was thinking the same. now we all know in real life court cases can take a few years to happen but this is tv land and time is not an issue! it made me wonder if they dont actually get rescued for some time yet or is it another point towards time being different on the island? but i cant see aaron going through a 'wormhole' or whatever to get off the island and coming out the otherside as a 3yr old? but who knows |

That confused me too! I think they must have been talking about Aaron, i doubt she has another son...maybe her lawyer just wanted him in the courtroom for sympathy...if the members of the jury actually saw him its more emotive and they are more likely to feel bad about taking the baby's mum away from him.
Also, Aaron looked about 2-3 i think...this must have taken place a while after the crash, yet Jack still looks 'normal'...lol...worth considering in the whole time scale thing...

I wud think theres nothing to it, but its Kates reaction at the barracks when here and claire are hanging washing up. She asks here to pick Aaron up cos hes crying. Kate looked very aprehensive to go near Aaron, and she made an exuse so Claire done it instead.
That makes me think Kate feels guilty for prob abandoning her own child, and prob sees Aaron as her chance to put things right. Who knows, knowing the writers Kate doesn't know her son, and hes prob a lostie or smt. ![]() |

What I can't work out is why did she say to Jack .... "I know it's hard for you to see the baby" .... or something along those lines. But why the hell would you refer to a toddler as a baby. Surely Aaron is FAR too old to be called a baby.

I dunno, what else would she say though? She wouldn't say "the toddler", and she wouldnt say "my son" to Jack when clearly Aaron isn't, so possibly that was the only way to say it. lol

Every time i watch Claire and Kates lil talk at the barracks, when they putting up the washing, it hints strongly towards something more.
Kate: "You sure he's got Ben in his basement?" Claire: "Uhhh huh, I saw Rosseau take him in there last night." Kate: "Does Looke ever go out?" Claire: "No, he's been in there cooking all day. He invited us all over for dinner." Claire: "Ohhh, can you get Aaron for me?" Kate: **Looks startled / scared / shocked** Claire: "Just pick him up and rock him a little bit." Kate: "Uhhhmmm, yeah. I'm just not very good with babies. I wouldn't want him getting more upset." Claire: "Here, i got him" Kate: **Looks tentively towards Aaron** Claire: "Ohhh it's ok. There we go muffin. There we go." Kate: "Your so good with him" Claire: "He he he." **Giggles** Kate: "What?" Claire: "Just the last thing i thought i'd ever be good at is being a mum. Claire: "You know you should try it some time" Kate: **Looks towards Aaron & Claire with a look like she has smt to hide.** I underlines the lines with some strong relivence, to me point. |

I think that scene is more to reinforce the parallel of Kate ending up being Aaron's mom. I could be wrong, but I don't think she has another child.
Regarding a 2/3 year-old testifying - it's possible and i'm pretty sure it's happened on quite a few occassions before. Good point Murly, about the CC being 2-3 years in the future (2006/7 Island time) - I would assume that the case has been pending and contexted for quite sometime - especially considering the profile of Ms Austin. For instance, I seem to recall Michael Jackson's CC taking years to get underway and months to complete.
