Does Daniel have memory issues?

I dont know if I picked that scene up correctly, but when Dan and Charlotte were messing around with those cards, it was as if Daniel couldnt remember what cards he'd picked out.

And back in 4x02 when Miles was reminding Daniel about the "tell my sister I love her" thing, Dan had a look of confusion on his face.

There's something up with the guy anyway lol

Agreed. It seems like some of his short term memory is missing/ he is having problems with, when normally it would be very good and it is troubling him somwhat.

Yeah i was thinking that, it looked like they were doing a test? Perhaps they know that the island heals people, because didn't charlotte say 'Give it time?'

I thought he was just playing stupid the first time he was talking to Jack and Kate but I guess he's generally confused.
I guess it is because the island should heal him.

He does seem a little confused and anxious most of the time. Maybe he's just a perfect example of a genius? They always say there's a fine line between genius and a mad man...

MEP brings up a good point though; Dan was expecting an 'improvement' so perhaps he thought the Island might help!

yeah i think he does - that could explain his reaction to watching the footage of the wreckage of 815 - 'why are you crying dan' 'i dont know' - maybe it was actually a flash forward and he has no active memory of the island but it is in his subconscious.

i also thought when he first landed that he couldnt quite remember his own name but then was the delighted that he did

When I first saw this scene I thought that Daniel was using some sort of pyschic ability, and that he hadn't seen what the cards were previously... looks like I was wrong.

I think your enhanced replays give too much away.
This may be why he's a 'head case'... the whole memory stuff... needing a care-taker. I'm confident the Island will heal him eventually (and allow him to get involved in the free for all of sin that takes place on that Island).

Perhaps there is something wrong with Daniel if he has a caretaker. Maybe he suffers from severe short term memory loss. When he first landed on the island and Jack asked him who he was, he looked up at the sky and hesitated as if he had to think about it for a minute before he responded. He did however remember everything about his little experiment with no problem at all.

The question is, where is Daniels caretaker now? If he lives with his caretaker in his flashback, how come he doesnt have one now? Was he close to being healed when he came to the island? Was Charlotte testing whether or not his memory had improved since being on the island? Time will tell.
