I don't think that's the only possibility. If Kate - or at the time Claire, too - believed that there was no way for Claire and Aaron to be reunited. And Claire wanted Aaron to be 'adopted' by Kate, then I'm not surprised she hasn't told him about his biological mother... yet.

From what I see and read adoptive parents - although I have no first hand experience of this - usually wait til the child is.... 14-16 before telling the child?

Basically, I don't think Kate has done anything wrong in regard to Aaron. In fact I think she's doing something rather noble... And she clearly loves the little brat. Plus I doubt a 2 (are we sticking with 2?) year old would understand the situation

Plus, Kate aint running anymore

Not a brilliant episode after three strong ones - not just because it was Kate-centric, but it kind of hinged on three questions it had already answered:

- Kate's question to Miles: is she still wanted? Well, yes. We saw her on trial at the very beginning of the episode.
- Will her off-island reputation influence her decision to leave or stay on the island? Irrelevant. We already knows she leaves.
- What will be the outcome of the trial? Well, unless we were supposed to believe she was in an astonishingly lax open prison and 'he' was her warder, we knew the answer to that one last season. She gets off.

So that was all fairly flawed really, interest wise, plus everyone (or Kate and Sawyer anyway) seems to have forgotten that pregnancy on the island historically means death, which is the obvious reason why Kate's being pregnant would be terrible news. There were good moments: more information about the lies the six are telling, Miles' offering Ben his safety in return for a bizarrely specific sum of money (and I have to kind of point out that seeing as the first interaction between Ben and a freighter-ite was a deal rather than a threat to his life, that rather suggests shooting them on sight isn't massively justified) and the final reveal about Aaron was intriguing. But the flaws in the plot did stand out after some otherwise tight episodes was a little sad.

I'm not so sure... Why would a 2 year old be so concerned about Kate's whereabouts, and why would that concern be so important, that she can only afford to spend mere minutes with Jack? (Unless of course it was a throwaway excuse to get away from him.)

The phrase "He'll be wondering where I am" doesn't really indicate to me that the person involved would necessarily be 'so concerned about [her] whereabouts'...just that she has somewhere else that she needs to be. That would make sense if she had a kid to look after.

It's a kind of weak excuse regardless....

Sorry, I didn't explain myself well there. I also think it was just a 'throwaway excuse' to get away from Jack and his crazy ramblings ie. she has no desperate need to get back to someone who is actually concerned about her whereabouts...she just wants to get back because he's wasting her time and she has a kid to look after.

What complete and utter GARBAGE. I feel cheated.

Plus points:

Helicopter with Sayid/Des/rank gone AWOL
Locke using the grenade on Miles
Sawyer being Sawyer and getting smacked in the chops cos of it

Bad points:

right...this may take some time!

The reason Kate wanted to see Miles - YAWN!
Kate's trial - YAWN
Jack/Kate - YAWN
Sawyer/Kate in bed - YAWN
Why Miles wanted to see Ben - YAWN

It was so anti climatical I thought. Kind of like "so what". The problem now is we know the helicopter is OK as we saw Sayid in the future last week producers

Questions:
I just don't get why Dianne would only want to start seeing her 'grandson' after a number of years Kate was off the island (Aaron looked 2 years old to me). Why not sooner??????

We have seen some lies on Lost but this really takes the biscuit. Kate is vile human being and the fact shes lying that Aaron is her son makes me mad. Maybe Claire is dead and in a way I hope she is so Kate does not come across as more evil then she is. If Claire is still alive I hope she gives kate a good slap on the chops for 'stealing' her son (I know I'm guessing but this is Kate we are talking about - her list of crimes read out took a good 5 minutes of screen time!!!)

NO MORE KATE EPISODES PLEASE!!!!

I was hoping future Kate - might lead to some new Kate stories but no same old same old.

It says a lot when I enjoyed the Locke scenes the most

Eggtown. After three amazing episodes we have the guarenteed Kate centric which is always bound to lower standards somewhat. However, I don't think it was greatly weaker than last weeks slick and powerful 'Economist', it was just less riveting, and dare I say, more 'filler'.

In saying that it was still the best Kate centric for a long long time..guess what folks, flash forwards can even make Kate semi-interesting..however they seem unable to change the woman from being a selfish, immoral, cold-hearted, ignorant twerp.

Initially I allowed myself to believe that this was a Locke centric - the eye and a rather broken and weary looking Locke lulled me in - could Locke be one of the Oceanic 6, I thought. The can of Dharma brand in the fridge instantly made me realise this was on-island Locke.

Who then proceeded to make breakfast for incaserated Ben - wait? I thought hatch season was over?? Last week I posted my concerns about Locke's clarity and his vulnerability - this week I stand by that because he is clearly more Lost than he's ever been (to borrow a phrase from the deliciously apt Linus). So much so that upon 'grilling' Ben for answers, he goes on to smash the plate of food against the wall ala season 2. Only this time Ben didn't even bother to raise and evil smile of glee..he seemed almost...disappointed in Locke..almost as if it was too easy, too predictable. An amazing reaction which made this 'full-circle' scene bearable from the POV of a Locke fan. Oh, and the 'Valis' reference was cute - I only recently read that book..perhaps I should read it again, I might have missed something? Nice John, nice.

The Courtroom Kate saga was actually quite good - it explained alot but left me sick to my stomach over the fact that the world wrongly sees Kate as being the "hero". Obviously this is part of the "secret" the O6 are keeping..as is the part about the Marshall dying in the crash and there only being 8 survivors, of which 2 died..lies lies lies. How convenient that this is therefore a Kate centric?

On-island Kate stabs Locke in the back and abuses his trust by setting up the meeting between Ben and Miles. Yeah, I would have "banished" her too. I did chuckle at Locke's "I realised something yesterday, there's no point in having rules if there's no punishment for breaking them" - Is Locke me??

Unfortunately for Sawyer he's happy to be a doormat and lacks the self-respect to sling that tramp out of his bed. Man what's wrong with him? His part in the Locke-dupe was also dispicable, especially since he didn't have the guts to admit to his part. It's like window dressing in order to disguse his own deplorable actions - coward.

Sayid lost in a worm-hole? WOOOOOOOYEAH!!! Oh, wait, Desmond's with him. BOOO!

I'm sure that much will be made of Locke's leadership skills..and yeah, they're coming apart at the seams - but the problem is "A leader can't leader until he knows where he's going" (Note to Locke, listen to your own advice). As I said last week, Locke is lost. Jacob (and/or the island) has alot to answer for, giving him crumbs but no gretel. Where's bigger-taller Walt, or whatever, when you need him? Still, Locke lacks the vital ingredient at this point - patience. He should really take a leaf from Ben's book - now that dude is the epitomy of patience..i mean look at him! I also loved his astonishment at Miles' request for 3.2 Million dollars (as I suggested last week, Ben['s a mover and a shaker on the outside world), which was soon replaced by utter confidence that he'll be out of his 'current predicament' within a week 2-step Ben...

Locke was foolish for trusting Hugo..I mean for goodness sake John!! If you can't trust people to do a job (and Hugo blatently cannot be trusted due to incompetence) then you really do have to do it yourself. Screw the cooking - let those mofo's starve!.. Anyway, having made an utter mess of the Miles and Kate and Ben and Sawyer situation, I don't blame him for putting a grenade in his mouth. Yes, slightly immoral, but as long as you don't end up killing him, then it seems like a worth-while plan. Hey, if Jack can get away with trying to kill one of his own, then surely Locke gets some leaway for some mindgames?

..And now for the twist at the end..it's weird cos I was looking at the clock and I saw 2 minutes left, and I wondered how on earth they were going to leave on a cliff-hanger - it was like, yeah Kate has a baby and Jack's the father...then OK..baby has blonde hair, it's Sawyers..interesting. Then when she called said baby "Aaron"..wow..I was stunned and had my hand over my mouth for a full minute. I never saw that coming, despite how obvious it seems in retrospect! See, this is why I LOVE being spoiler-free. Screw you spoiler-sites!

That alone lifted the episode up a notch. Still the worst episode of the season so far (Hey, it's a Kate centric), but let's not forget "What Kate Did"...
