..that the man would come to him?
Obviously Sayid was on the Golf Course because he intended to kill the man , but wasn't it a bit strange how his target simply came to him without Sayid having to do the leg work? Or is this another shout out to the element of fate expediating ones, um, fate?

He probably knew the man being of Middle Eastern descent [?] would start a conversation with him. If not, I am sure Sayid would have gone to him to do the same. Though the question is WHY did the man not know whom Sayid was from the start?

True, perhaps Sayid was waiting for his opportunity but the man simply fell into his lap, as it were. If so then I have to say that Sayid is a mighty fine actor, cos he played it off so casual. Yeah, if he's someone connected to the island conspiracy/Oceanic/Widmore (etc) and knows Sayid by name, sure he'd know what he and the rest of the O6 looked like?

Perhaps Sayid didn't know - maybe he wasn't on a mission to kill that man? Maybe it was just a random bloke? Sayid might have killed him because of his reaction to him when he mentioned the Oceanic 6. Maybe he told the man that he was one of the O6 to see what his reaction was, and when he saw that the man looked terrified when he found out, he killed him. The reason might be because he thought that the man might go and tell somebody of his whereabouts or something. Maybe people know that the O6 are involved in some sort of dodgy dealings? And maybe Sayid told the man who he was to test his reaction, maybe to see if he was the enemy?
Hmm, that makes absolutely no sense. lol. That sounded far better in my head than it does typed out... ![]()

that was weird, surely he would know what sayid looked like. or maybe the guy wasn't working for the economist yet, ben might know this man would be a threat or whatever in the future and is killing them off before they become a threat, if that makes sense? kinda like the terminator going back to kill sarah connor lol but the guy reacted badly to the oceanic 6 line so he must be aware of them.

I don't know about golf course etiquette, but possibly if the course if fairly empty and you're playing fairly close to one another, it's normal to engage people in conversation? It does seem a bit hit and miss though. Possibly he was intending to poison him in the clubhouse afterwards and he just took advantage of his luck. Then again, how does Sayid know so many things? He's alarmingly prescient sometimes.

Yes, he did, and it confused me enormously at first because I misheard and thought he said 'Mr Abbadon' and was all 'Ooh, shapeshifters', but no. Anyway, yes. He knew where to find that man - the question's more about how he knew that the man would approach him on the golf course.

Yeah I was just contradicting the people who said maybe Sayid didn't know him.

I'm sure his name was Almeira or something very like that. You know, like the car?! Sounded like that anyway.

Sayid has always been good at playing it "cool" so to speak, we need look no further than his encounter with Mikhail at The Flame station. Good idea Murgatroyd re: poisening Sayid, though the man genuinly did not seem to know who Sayid was, purely based on his reaction when Sayid told him. Quote:

It does seem strange to kill a man just because he seemed shocked by Sayid's story, so I think he MUST have been working for The Economist - or was associated with him in some manner. Anyone think it was rather strange to kill a man on a golf car in which he was presumably registered? Unless Sayid snuck on, otherwise I would assume the dead body would be linked to Sayid. Perhaps the man knowing the O6 are involved in "dodgy dealings", Sayid killed him for fun?

Not so sure about that, but I see what you're getting at. I'm just saying that if he's German, then that kinda nullifies your point, but yes it is perhaps courteous for two people (foreign or otherwise) to converse, especially in a golf course environment. Quote:
