(This was more difficult to do than the Villain one this week! Stand out heroes seem to be quite thin on the ground at the moment.)
Sayid ![]() In order to protect his friends he’s forced to become Ben’s personal assassin, but still can’t separate his gun from his heart when he’s on the job. Especially when it comes to attractive blonde women. And he also told Jack to stay put when planning the Charlotte rescue mission since he didn’t want it ending in bloodshed, which is a plus for anyone in my view! Ben ![]() He may well be working for the greater good by doing what he’s doing in the future, and even if Sayid isn’t doing something he very much likes, at least he’s getting vital information from Ben that is saving the lives of his friends. Daniel ![]() Risking the displeasure of Minkowski he launched his payload experiment to try and, well, solve or prove something, and when offered the chance to leave the Island he opted to remain behind to work and stay with Charlotte (brave man), meaning that his team would be reduced by half. He also made sure that Frank would only fly back on the exact same bearing they entered on, suggesting that something not good at all would happen if he didn’t.

Since we dont know for sure Sayids and Bens motitives, if they are indeed working for the greater good or just going round killing people that Ben doesnt like (a lot hinges on speculation and the alternative viewpoint) then I have to vote for Daniel, although again he hasnt done anything heroic.

Ben, on the possibility that he's actually doing good a lot of good. As with the Villain of the Week, it wouldn't be fair if the puppet then took the glory/blame.

I love the way those that refuse to vote for Ben/Locke as a villian have no problem voting for him as a hero. Blalant favourtism.
I choose Sayid as hes doing this awful things for Ben to save his friends.

I won't even justify the faulty analogy with a response.
![]() I think you have to be a bit more open minded if you can't accept that someone can be both a villain, and a hero.

Sayid for murdering yet another someone!
Er, I mean Ben for producing more witty lines, for not holding his beat downs against the losties and for seemingly helping the O6 to protect their fellows. Pretty heroic to be

None of those strike me as terribly heroic. I really don't feel there were any standout heroes, this week, to be honest. Pretty much everyone involved was either sickening or pitiable or both.

It's pretty much what I feel - we're fairly running out of wholly sympathetic characters. There were people in this episode who didn't disgust me, which is nice, such as Desmond and Farraday and, oddly, Jack, but they didn't have fully engaged roles. Hurley was heroic when he stood up to Locke, but what on earth happened after that? How did he go from 'I'm not going to be a party to hostage-taking' to 'I will act as bait so you can get more hostages'? Deeply disappointing. Sayid was well and truly in the gutter, though at least pitiable with it and only the fragments of humanity (the fact that he can still feel regret and self-loathing) he managed to retain made a positive impact. Then there's Ben, Locke, Kate. Really, not an episode seething with nice or decent people.
