Most interestingly, it would appear that Jacob's hut has gone a wandering. That is, since Hurley encountered it and Jacob and father Shepherd in "Beginning of the End".
This, as predicted, pretty much refutes any suggestion that Hugo simply imagined himself up a hut with a creepy old man inside. However, it does suggest that Hugo has the ability to connect things (see Connect 4 reference from metal insititute), or perhaps things have the ability to connect (or latch) themselves onto his mind..or his minds eye.. My suggestion is that Jacob consciously used Hugo's 'ability' to move himself and his abode out of the ring of ash which was seemingly keeping him entrapped. I also believe that Hugo has immense ability, a gift which is he unaware of (see my "Come into the Light" theory for more support to this suggestion). Doubtful? Well Miles has a gift, as does Walt as does Locke..these are all things that we 'know' to be true. I think that for Hugo to also have an ability (albeit one which he isn't quite aware of) is more than reasonable - especially when we consider his relationship with dead beings and his 'connection' with the numbers.. In the premiere episode I noticed something amazing - Hugo got up from his game of 'connect 4', and moved on to Abbadon's table, where the game of choice was 'Chess'. I believe that this signifies a changing of the game, a switching of the ante. Hugo's 'connection' to the island is now established..now it's a game of chess, with his every move being clocked or countered by those who seek to use his ability or his information - See Jacob and his hut being 'moved' and Abbadon's "are they still alive, Mr. Reyes".

wow you're so perceptive! would never have noticed the different games. it must be to signify the change on the island. i dont know much about chess but basically its about stealing the other players pieces, or people on the island?, and those pieces then change sides. is that about right? also white vs dark, good vs evil?

He seems far more perceptive and less blinkered. He's still able to 'connect things', but he's now on a different playing field and he seems to be one of the main people affecting the current landscape - see 'moving' Jacob's hut, and the Lostie divide. ![]()

Also, in the above screencap, notice how Hugo isn't sitting directly opposite Matthew..he's kinda to the side, which signifies (in my mind) that he's not opposed to Matthew and that he either is, or goes on the become, a 'middle of the road man'.
Perhaps suggesting "two sides" as lalaland mentioned above, or that he's a fence sitter..

![]() Possibly, that's what I really can't wait to see unravel - who's side Abbadon is on. It could well be that he's working for/with Ben, although at this point it does indeed seem more likely that he's working for or with Dharma or Widmore.. ![]() I think thaty ultimately both sides..the metaphorical 'light' and 'dark' will have to combine in order to save something..perhaps ultimately they will all work towards saving the island, and perhaps they will all fail - will this be the final scene of Lost -the two sides together, but the island forever LOST? ![]()
