Hurley's car chase happened in LA, according to the fruit truck near the pile he crashed through. Jack saw it on the local news, in LA. Then according to his flashforward he sees Kate near the airport that night, who is also in LA.
Strange they would all live near each other? Or did they feel the need to?

maybe they are all being closely watched over by authorities or the government for unusual activity. Therefore being held within the borders of L.A.
Being stranded on an island can make one go mental...

well Jack and Hurley were originally from LA, weren't they? Kate might just be under watch from the police because i think the only way she could have gotten to see Jack in that flashforward is if she had a trial and was let off. Or maybe they just feel like they have to stay there because of all the carry on to get there in the first place

Interesting - should the other 3 also live in L.A. then it could suggest that they have been given restrictions on where they can live. Although, the man in the coffin lived in New York, I believe - which, 'if' he was an 815'er, could suggest otherwise. Of course coffin man could be an islander who wasn't originally onboard 815, as mentioned in the discussion thread - if so, would he have made it back home under less 'heroic' circumstances.. possibly in hiding from the powers that be..?

I mentioned restrictions before. This may be due to the goverment keeping them under watch, after giving them a full psychological check, but to be on the safe side, they are keeping watch to see if there is any long term effects as a result of the crash. Maybe legionaires disease. They've restricted the Oceanic 6 to the boundaries of LA. They might even have ID tags on them.

What about the 'man' Kate said wouldn't like her contacting Jack? Maybe he wants them to stay in LA rather than the authorities, blackmailing them to do what he wants because he knows what happened back on the island to get the six off.
Jack has obviously gone past the point of caring if anything bad happens to him and all he wants to do is go back so no singluar person or solitary act of blackmail like the kind mentioned above would be enough to convince him to stay put. |
