Locke or Jack?

Personally I would've gone with Locke ( & not just because Sawyer did! ) I wasn't a big Locke fan in the last series but I actually would've felt safer in that group than with Jack & Kate. After what Desmond reiterated about Charlie's last words (on his hand) I don't think I'd be in a big hurry to meet the people on that boat.

I'd go with Locke. I hate him but I'm actually going with Des, because I love Des Hurley was incredibly right in what he said at the time. So......yeah.

Despite my intense hate for Locke (me? Hate Locke? Why yes) I would have gone with him. If Des said the things that he did to me I would have followed him lol. Plus a group with Locke, Sawyer and Des in would be pretty kick-ass.

Yeah that's one of the burning questions. Now that I think about it, I find it extremely clever because by showing us the divide in the losties and also showing the FF and how Hugo believes it was a "mistake" to go with Locke, it really does bring relevance to the 'beginning of the end' episode title. We've seen the losties make choices..choices which ultimately end up being wrong or right..however, to further make this sensational story-telling, Jack also ends up being wrong! So first we have Hugo confessing that Locke was wrong (or rather his decision to side with Locke - incidentally who is Hugo blaming here, himself..or Locke?)..and we also know that Jack believes that he's made a mistake (from his FF in 3.23).

It all points to a chain of events..or rather, a chain or mistakes? At various intervals, various people seem to have made the short-term correct decisions, but the long-term wrong decisions.

Within this, we also have to consider the island as a character more than ever, i believe. Hugo's suggestion (to Jack) that the island wants them to go back really does bring us back to the island story and a decision which was made on the island that ultimately leads to what we've seen glimpses of..to what is a beautifully apt "beginning of the end" - literally.

Even though the island is frought with dangers unbeknownst to man, it is still paradise and is away from the harsh realities of civilisation (money, war, famine etc).

It is also a safe bet. Who knows who the rescuers are after being told that they are not who we thought they were.

Funnily enough I'd quite like to live on the island..I like adventure and although i'm down with technology, I also have a yearning to escape into the wilderness and become one with mother earth.

I agree that Charlie's message is a real clincher, although surely Locke's presence and inclination counts for something? I mean, say Hugo went off on his own to the caves and asked people to join him..and Locke did the same with the barracks - I wonder who people would go with. I'd go with Locke - Charlie's message would still be known, but i'd still feel better off going with Jonathan. It would be interesting to see how the group would divide if their were three leaders - Jack, Locke and Hugo.

I feel that Locke has ... well, not exactly cried wolf, but he's acted with a view to keeping the survivors on the island on numerous occasions in the past (from jeopardising Sayid's attempt to use the radio to blowing up the submarine) without actually knowing that it was in their best interests. His motivation, whatever he said in episode 4.01, was self-interest - he wanted to stay on the island because he was special there and because he was curious. And now he really does think that it'd be best for everyone to avoid this particular escape attempt, and he might well be right, but I can understand why anyone who's known Locke for any length of time might suspect he's simply up to his old tricks. Same goes for Ben - they all know he has self-interested reasons for wanting to keep the Losties on the island, so they're bound to be skeptical. That's really why Charlie's message is essential, for me at least, to clinch the deal. I think that's the case for Hurley as well, in spite of his dubious claim that Locke isn't crazy - when he said 'I'm going with my friend' (or whatever it was), I reckon a few people thought 'What, Locke?' for a moment until he confirmed that he meant Charlie.

This may surprise many people but I would also have chosen Team Locke. I am NOT a big fan of Locke and I hate Ben even more but Jack so deserved that guilt trip given to him in Hurley's speech. I think having heard what Charlie had written and going by the past 3 months on the island I would not have taken any chances.

I think Claire did not really think about her decision she just was upset about Charlie.

I think Sawyer actually really likes Hugo but does not want to be seen as too pally with anyone. But I also think he joined the other side to get away from Kate (can't blame him. Rumour is that she smells ).

I think Ben got through to Danielle about saving Alex which is why they joined team Locke.

I am surprised by Des and Sayid. I think Sayid knows its right to join Locke but can't be seen to desert Jack but as you say Roco I think Sayid can pursuade Jack and this maybe crucial later if things turn bad. Des I think wants to get why they had Pennys photo.

Steve stayed with Jack cos Hurley kept calling him Scott.

Vincent went with Aaron so he can chew on him when hes hungry

Probably locke, but i sure would of wanted know what was going on with the boat people.
