So we know that the Black smoke can take on the form of dead people, and seen as Charlie was 'Dead, but still here,' do we assume that it was the B/S? If so why would the black smoke wont hurley and co. back on the island, because from past events, it seemed that it didnt really like the survivors much

I dont like the idea of the monster leaving the Island and appearing all over the place. If its there to protect the Island, why would it leave? I'd like to think its more the Island communicating with Hurley.

I think there are three possibilities:
The Charlie we saw is the Island/Black Smoke It's Charlie's ghost Hurley's having delusions, and it's neither of the above. Based on the fact Hurley refers to an unnamed 'it', presumably the Island, wanting them to go back, I think Charlie-Ghost being a creation of the monster is possible. The Monster having abilities off the Island could also mean the coincidences leading up to certain people being on the plane, were less down to chance/fate, and more 'chosen' by the entity.

I see it as Hurley's guilt at being rescued from the island and leaving the rest behind.
this may be that he knows something, like a danger the people on the island are unaware of or it may be that they realise they belong on the island and feel a connection with it.

I don't think it was smokey - although I do agree with Hurley in regards to the island wanting them to go back.
My understanding from watching this scene and putting into context from previous episodes, is that the dead still exist..only behind the curtain, if you will. I think Charlotte Malkin made an important revelation in Eko's 2.21 flashback - she said that when she momentarily died, she saw Yemi "between places". Deceased Yemi asked her to pass a 'message' on to Eko - this, I believe if very similar to what Hurley experienced. Charlie's 'being'..not necessarily his 'ghost' (although that still works) still exists in another dimension, if you will. The island, perhaps overlaps both our dimension and that dimnesion - which is why such visitations are more apparant on the island. In saying that, I do believe that the island may have sent Charlie. Although it's quite possible that Charlie sent himself..Hurley's subconscious is still tuned into the island..essentially that is what Hurley's gift is - the radio scene with Sayid near the end of S1, as well as in his 1.19 flashback, is a clue I think. Hurley is able to tune into heigher frequencies (but i'll explain more of that 'idea' in an upcoming theory). Just to quickly support that, notice how at first Charlie seemed unable to see Hurley..he seemed to walk very slowly, with his arms out-stretch - like how a visually impaired person would if they didn't have their guidedog. I believe that this is because Charlie was stepping over (into this world) and the lin between himself and Charlie only grew stronger once Hurley saw him and eventually began to believe what he was seeing - the link was fully connected once Charlie removed his sunglasses. If so, this is interesting as it would make sense in my mind, for beings from another dimension to take a while to adjust to coming over to this dimension.

What's the difference? I'm not sure there are such a thing as 'blind glasses'... or are there?
