I was forgetting that she isn't his real daughter but I guess after all these years he may feel like she is his real daughter and therefore would still be uncomfortable with her going out whti his real son - I have also decided Karl's mother (probably Annie) died in childbirth and Ben has always blamed Karl for it like Roger blamed Ben for Emily's death and has therefore rejected him

Oh yes, no doubt he considers Ally as one of his own and rightly so, since he raised and loved her. So yeah, I can see him being uncomfortable eitherway. I mean it must be hard enough for any father (or mother) knowing that ones daughter is getting to 'that stage', let alone when their life is at risk if they do conceive. I imagine that contraceptive is just not enough of a safe option in such a situation. A stern slap is what Karl needs (or a darkened room)

Hmm, good idea regarding Karl possibly being Annie's son..that's certainly still possible at this stage..interesting

Good bit of speculation, and very typical of Lost - people becoming precisely what they hate. That said, it'd mean a child was successfully born on the island, and I got the impression that had never happened (though Rousseau, as ever, is an enigma) - I thought the woman fatally miscarried before she could bring the child to term.

Me, as a dutch girl. I haven't seen anything that would suggest a teenage son. Where can I find that back?

One thing is for sure, it isn't hurley in the coffing, the coffin is too small.

On the newspaper clipping that Jack reads on the plane and again in his car in 3.22 "Through The Looking Glass", it states that a man, Jeremy Langtham (the man who's funeral Jack goes to. Jeremy is possibly an alias) committed suicide and is "survived by his teenage son".

Here's a screencap of the clipping (although it's difficult to read):

I'm pretty sure I read on another forum that the writers had said the newspaper clipping was only a prop and that it would be corrected in the future when they reveal who it is in the coffin.

I may be wrong on that, but I was pretty sure that's what was said.

So that leaves it more open as the person may or may not have had a son / child.

Having 'put it out there' I would hope that they don't go back on the teenaged son thing. A while ago I theorised that Locke (or Ben) is in the coffin and that he adopted Walt after Michael's death or something (funnily enough this is similar to what they've now done with Aaron and Kate!), so perhaps the teenaged son thing could be explained like that, without going back on their initial easter-egg..

Indeed,

We've been talking about this in the ABC 4.12 forum - some of us think that it could just have ben part of Locke's alias or that there was a real Jeremy Bentham who had a son, and not our Locke.

I still like my idea about him adopting Walt, although i admit it's kinda unlikely seeing as Walt was with his grandma in the finale.
