On tv.com they said this about the book:

The Fountainhead, published in 1943, is a novel about an architect who struggles throughout his career in order to maintain his personal methods and beliefs rather than conform to the norm of the current architectural trends. The book's main character, Howard Roark, may be an allusion towards John Locke.

I'd never even heard of it until now!

I thought Fountainhead was refering to Mikhail and his ears bleeding and his mouth foaming

Fountainhead is also read by Robbie the waiter in Dirty Dancing (the original one) - he gives it to Baby saying "some people count, some people don't"

(for those who haven't seen it, Robbie is basically a nasty upper-class boy who looks down on the lower-class dancers (Patrick Swayze!) - there's a clear division in the film of people who are going to Harvard to be doctors, and people whose lives won't amount to anything at all... perhaps the good and the bad?)

Sawyer was reading this book in the episode where Mikhail “died” by sonic fencing

Has anyone read this book

Is there a clue in it as to how Mikhail didn’t actually die

The storyline sounds a bit strange - yet pretty meaningful- wiki says it sold hunderds of thousands of copies so it can't be too bad! KoR done a review of what it all could mean in his examinations section

I am going to assume from that that Mikhail managed to foam at the mouth and make his ears bleed by using his mind (probably slowed his breathing down too for good measure)
