This is the Official Discussion Thread for Episode 3x08.

Please do not post in this thread before the episode begins - you can use the 'build up' thread to post general pre episode chit-chat in. Any posts posted in 'this' thread before the episode begins will only be removed for the sake of less pages of one word or general chat.

If course you're welcome to start other threads in order to discuss more specific points, strands, aspects etc etc etc from the episode (as we normally do)..but please dont duplicate the forum with threads about the same thing (ie. already existing thread: 'Locke is alvar hanso!' ..duplicated thread: 'Alvar Hanso..is Locke!'). Do a search or look through already existing threads before creating a new one. Or how about this, put a totally different angle on it.

I agree. My initial reaction was that it didn't even begin to live up to Lost standard. Pretty dismal as the show goes.

Luckily I watched this on Fri, so I am in a state to make comment other than Charlie must not Die!!

I know I normally say every week, oh that was the best episode of the season, well for me personally Flashes before your eyes is the best episode of Lost I have ever seen. I cant really explain why and it wasn’t just that it was a Desmond Flashback or even that they had changed the flashbacks so it was just one whole flashback (nearly 25mins I believe) or even that he told my beloved Charlie he was going to die, there was just something magical about this episode.

Poor Desmond, I know Desmond lovers are thin on the ground but who would fail to like him after this episode. It took me a while to work out if the flashback was actually happening or if it was just déjà vu, it was excellently done by the writers and producers. The little things that kept appearing such as the clock, the microwave were all very clever but what really scared me was the painting in Mr Widmores office that really scared me, it was then I started to think that Desmond really did travel in time and this was actually happening.

I loved Desmond bumping into Charlie or “Charlie Hieronymus Pace” as he will now be known. That really needs to be the strangest middle name I have ever come across, and having dug up a little about it all I can find that makes any sort of sense is that his mother took his middle name from St Jerome, who was best known as a translator of the bible from Greek and Hebrew into Latin and is recognised as a Doctor of the Church by the Vatican. It would all fit in with Charlie being Catholic.

Now on to the most important thing…..How can Desmond say Charlie is going to die. That really hit me like a bolt out of the blue, I did not see it coming at all. So say Charlie has been ear-marked for the place for Lost stars in the Sky, I suspect it will be soon…. I cant see the writers dragging this Desmond saving Charlies life out for too long. Though surely not another death so soon after Eko. Perhaps Desmond has his wires crossed, but so far his flashes have all been very accurate.

For me this episode gets 12/10, and for some reason the more I love an episode the more I struggle to write about it.

It was well freaky, even though I'm sure just about everyone watching knew what Desmond was going to say it was still an awesome moment.
