I am still confused by this.

Hurley's decision to join Team Locke eventually came to a halt several episodes ago. Locke's pulling the gun on Sawyer was the reason Hurley remained with Locke. So why on Earth did Hurley apologise to Jack? I agree that I expected something more "epic" at the time of the scene, though perhaps it was a simple apology and nothing more?

When Jack and Hurley met in the Finalé, there was an awkardness between them, if you want to call it that. So Hurley was merely apologising because he knew Jack took it personally perhaps?

But it is open to interpretation I suppose.
