Considering its a fake identity, any alleged son might be made up in order to make the identiy seem more factual.

I see, interesting that they should change it - because I seem to remember last year them saying that the obit was canon and they they intended/expected the fans to be able to read what it said? but then again if they had used 'Bentham' all along it would have perhaps given too much of a clue (i.e. Ben or Locke), rather than being completely ambigious.
Very true - the son could be made up to make it appear more genuine.
Back in the day, when i threorised that the man in the coffin could be Locke, I used to think that his teenaged son would be Walt - perhaps this could stll work, with Locke/Bentham adopting Walt? Afterall, he did go see him. Unlikely but you never know.
