Was Jacob even in the cabin in this episode? Also, i think Ben is becoming less significant and Locke more so - in this episode he said something to John which was basically like 'my time is over - now it's your turn'. Could Jacob's loss of power be something to do with the electromagnetism, perhaps? Maybe pushing the button to control the electromagnetism also built up Jacob's power in a way...hmm, i dont know...just sort of saying things as i think of them lol

This is what's troubling me with this scene - it's almost as if Christian (or the spirit/manifestation of..) is more powerful than the great Jacob. What gives!? Has jumping the line made Jacob weaken slightly - but then surely he'd be stronger now that he's no longer 'contained'?
I have a funny feeling that this Christian spirit/manifestation isn't exactly on the up and up..something's just not right.
Yeah, it was definetely the 'passing of the torch' wasn't it - I was half expecting some Ben trickery, but he seemed genuinely relegated. It's almost as if Ben was a stop-gap until Locke was able to find his purpose..perhaps the island has always seen Ben in this way, because as I mentioned in my "We The Gifted" theory, Alpert's discovery of Ben seemed almost 'accidental'. Has he just got back from visiting Locke and being disappointed at his lack of progress? (probably not as he was wearing pirate gear - and that's anoher thing..why WAS he wearing pirate gear when we see him in th same time period wearing normal period clothes (Locke's flashback)? I digress.
Electromagnetism..yes, possibly. I think that's what powers smokey, so perhaps it also helps fuel Jacob's 'existence'? Perhaps that large burst of electromagnetism that was used to in Smokey's recent attack on
Team Keam lessened Jacob's 'power' - hence his absense. Was he asleep in the backroom?
Will mull this over somemore.
