Perhaps Miles' 'abilities' have been heightened since arriving on the island. We know he could communicate with the dead off the island; like hear them and speak to them blah blah blah, but what if he can actually make them appear real? Not alive though... just kind of like Bruce Willis in the Sixth Sense, just everyone can see him not just the kid
Although that would still be hella confusing
