My review from watching this episode the week before last:

Something Nice Back Home. This episode had the unenviable task of trying to top what TSoTTC did the week before..it's could be called the "Eggtown" effect, in which the episode following a legend is good, but not quite as good as it was the week before.

That said, I did enjoy this episode, and hey, Jack's flashes are getting alot more interesting thesedays, if we take this one and 3.23 into consideration. Not that it was a 'great' flash-forward - it was terribly annoying in places - but it was something new and fresh, what with him proposing to Kate (I heard the universal groans and the yelps of glee depending on which type of viewer you are) and the visitation of Shepherd senior.

However Jack's still got those anger issues in the future hasn't he - we kinda already knew that not much would change for him in the future..previous episodes have already told us that ultimately he becomes unhinged. So some of this episodes value was instantly lost and puts into the question the 'long-term' merits of the flash-forward mechanism. Still, I enjoyed the Christian visitation - it's out of the way now and it confirms alot, if it needed confirming. More interesting perhaps, was his appearing to Claire..and his physical interaction with Aaron. Ooh, Claire just got interesting!..well, Aaron did, but I guess we must associate him with the 'vessel'..

I guess we've seen spirits/manifestation (etc) physically interact with the living before (Yemi held Eko's Cross, and 'Dave' threw a melon at Hurley), but this one was kinda 'WOAH', as it ties things together..and ultimately suggests that Claire might not be die afterall (collective groans..), considering she's now gone AWOL (again). Mother of the year, anyone..?

As with Keamy (who I just knew wouldn't die in the last episode)..unless we SEE someone die, consider them alive. Speaking of which, that was quite a tense scene with Sawyer, Miles and Claire/Turnip hiding in the bushes. Good old Frank. Actually what the heck was he doing that far ahead of the group anyways? I guess the writers are not completely seemless in their story-telling - "lalalalalala", i'll overlook another plothole..

I thoroughly enjoyed the scene where Miles relived (if you will) the deaths of Karl and Rousseau. It struck me as different from the grandson scene (4.02), in that he appeared to see (and hear) flashes of their deaths, but the spirits of Karl and Roussy must have spoken to him aswell..how else would he know their names? This is why I love this guys character so much..he has mega potential in terms of the mystery of the show..the manifestations, the whispers, J-Cob..Miles is the man to unlock that stuff for us.

As for Jack's on island stuff - seriously, it was kinda pointless considering we KNOW that the man leaves the island and lives. Although, to counter that they did use Hurley to suggest the old 'alternate reality/imaginary' angle..somewhat of a futile suggestion, considering the creators have said that they wont go down that angle, that they wont do that to us. Perhaps they were trying to con the uninitiated amongst us, or perhaps there IS more to the 'imagination' of the characters than meets the eye. I s'pose it can have it's own un-encompassing thread in the show.

However, in real terms the jeopardy was seriously lacking in Jack's plight. Did they want me to shed a tear for the man?..that silly silly man who is too hard-headed to take Bernards knock-out rag? Actually, Jules made me LOL when she hollard: "Damn it Bernard knock him out!!" (owwe)..it reminded me so much of Jack's 3.06: "Kate, Dammit RUN!". They do love the drama don't they

The part where Jules got to the root of Kate by basically having her tell Jack that she doesn't love him was..well..vindictive and cruel. But well-done Jules, she deserved that, lol. It boggles the mind how Jack EVER gets to the stage where he thinks that Kate is marriage material. Silly man.

Other than the Miles stuff, my favourite scene was with Hugo and Jack (Garcia has been FANTASTIC this season!). What a scene..some great acting and a very convincing. When he started talking about Charlie a chill ran up my spine..

Also, Sawyer all protective of Claire? This man gives me joke. You can't pick and choose 'when' to be lovely dovey Saw-boots!

Good episode..but in almost every scene I kept hoping that we'd kinda get to the cabin..Y'KNOW!
