never had any faith in the island, so really he was suffering from ignorance, and I wouldn't call Ben's warnings (who is a repetative liar, don't we forget) 'glaring warning signs', and in Jack's eyes Locke's murdering of Naomi would have been proof that Locke was a nutter. All he was concered about was getting off the island, whereas Locke had found the hatch, opened it, banged on about how it was his destiny for god knows how long, until Ben made him lose his faith and stop pressing the button... so my conclusion is that Ben brought it all on himself
