I wonder whether they borrowed that idea from Heroes..
what is interesting about Claire bennet is that her pain threashold is incredibly high, whereas the island protected losties who get hurt (Locke, Mike etc) feel pain like any normal human, but their recovery rates are exponential.
I guess whereas Claire Bennet's indestructability is 'genetic', the island protected Losties are protected via the forces of the Universe - be it physical forces via
intervention or the more
spiritual forces (if you will) which replenish..
