Possible alternatives are that she might have cramp or a tummy ache or something, but I agree that they told her to place her hand there so that it alludes to the idea of her being pregnant.
I still think it could go eitherway, as in one sense it could possibly make for an interesting story-line (as well as fitting in with the 'yet another fatherless island baby' theme), but on the otherhand i've kinda had enough of all these pregnancies - seeing Ben getting born was the pinnacle of my Lost baby deliveries.
