I like that idea.

I thought it simply meant he was on a 'suicide mission' - to complete his mission without considering his own welfare and hopefully dying to end his misery.

Though I suppose there is no guarantee that the Island will let him "go" and of course this is where an analysis of the Island and Ben come into play - do they want the SAME thing? I would assume the Island and Ben are working together - which makes sense seeing as Ben is saving the Island.

One would imagine Michael cannot escape Ben's 'wrath' and he is damned to suffer for eternity? However, Ben let him go home ONCE - perhaps he will again?

I feel sorry for Michael.
