All I know is "Don't trust the captain"
I'm not sure how much value to place in his 'knowing' expression, because it was a classic 'on hiatus for 4 months' scene (due to writers strike), so I think they really wanted to leave us with something to debate.
At the time of watching it I thought he knew that Mike was Ben's spy..thinking about it, they could go the other way and have him disbelief Sayid or something.
Eitherway I don't trust him..and interestinly we haven't yet seen why "no, you don't" want to talk to the captain - apart from the fact that he likes to personally beat up dissenters much like how Widmore personally beat up one of Ben's people who had the misfortune to get caught..
