Perhaps there is only one more space on the helicopter and Jin tells Sun to take it? So she's safe, and Sun knows that pregnant women die on the island so she NEEDS to get off. Jin & Sun are there when the chopper leaves and Jin tells Sun to save herself. And then when she gets back to Korea she has to say that her husband died in the crash, just to explain where he is??
