You know I think he just might be. I have not seen any other post in this thread yet but I am sure his "death" date on his tombstone was 22nd sept 2004, which was when the plane crashes wasnt it? so prehapes he decided to stay on the island and "fake" his death in the plane crash. Just a thought.
