If you consider Faraday's memory loss to be some form of 'course correction' brought on by Desmond's future-induced appearance, does it mean that anyone who experiences this 'flashforward' (as their past self), damages the people they come into contact with, so the universe can avoid a paradox (e.g. If Daniel had remembered the conversation, there's a good chance the whole situation wouldn't have been possible)?
It would be a grand reason to get people to stay away from the Island, with them being in danger of this happening to them, and as such, negatively affecting other people in the past.
Notably, people suffer no side-effects coming in by submarine, while Minkowski and his pal went nuts just going near the Island?

Perhaps with the Swan now gone, and without any vaccine, it's much more dangerous to approach the Island above water now.
