Well... I'm thinking we need to figure out the significance of his flashback. After all, the key to many things/motives in Lost is the flashback. He asks the dead grandson where the money is and finds a truckload of cash and drugs. Obviously, as people have said, money is important. But the way that he went and asked the dead kid where "it" was, that was very specific. The same is obviously the case for this. Specific. He obviously needs it for something particular, but mysterious.
I say "obviously"... But I also reckon it could just as easily be a code just as mentioned above :-)
