No I don't think so. Remember we did have 9 months without him to mourn/celebrate. I actually think it was quite clever more than anything. I mean we as viewers didn't expect to see him again for a long while yet he pops up in the first episode. It was certainly unexpected imo, as, let's face it, did anyone think that we would see him so soon? We had all resigned ourself to life without Charlie yet here he is. For me that was more effective than it would have been seeing him a lot later on.
