Well, we know that it took them (Locke and Ben) at least several hours to get to the cabin from a camp on the way between the ruins and the temple - they left when it looked very bright, and I think it was the dead of night when they got there. It took another half day it would seem to get to the Dharma pit, which was not on their way. The problem is, that apart from the location of the beach and Othersville, we know nothing of where anything is, or even what direction anyone is going. The Others are in the middle of forest, so they could be going in any direction, but the Losties always head south as, well, they'd be in the ocean otherwise.
Basically, we don't really have any idea where anything is.
It's made more complicated by the fact that the timing between hikes aren't consistent at all.
The Hatch was like a day's chase away originally, and later on, it seems about half an hour away from the beach.
However, I don't think it actually is Jacob's hut - I believe it is a physical entity - the one Hurley saw disappeared. However, it's definitely meant to be Jacob's hut, though perhaps just a vision of it. That would be my reason for dismissing it as being the actual Jacob's hut, not the distances/timing, as they're erratic as hell.

Do not suppose that is where Vincent has been running off to?
I wonder who lived there years ago as surely Jacob has not bought the painting, unless he was once alive?

We can only speculate about Vincent's behind the scenes antics, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's been having contact with The Black Smoke/Christian/Jacob etc., but on 'And So It Begins' mobisode.
I think the painting looks quite old - could be from the Black Rock.

Lmfao! I swear, the parallels between your life and Lost .... amazing

Indeed. Unfortunately, I did not find anything particularly interesting - once horizontal, I crawled along but it narrowed into normal vent size, and I certainly wasn't going to try to squeeze into that.

Not quite a Dharma Station ending. The best part was the antics trying to get out. The entry was vertical - I could jump down getting in, but to get out, I had to push off the sides with my legs, and shuffle up.

(I had a friend around the first time I investigated, before I knew I could get out like that.

)
Such adventuring.
