Kate* What did they do to you?!
Jack* Nothing.
Kate* Then why are you acting like this?
Jack* There's no way...you...there's no way that I could...

Kate* I came here to help you! So why don't you just tell me why you're...
Jack* I told you not to come back here for me!*
Kate* I didn't think you meant it.
Bolded the part I was rambling about.

He's was being watched - remember Tom said something like "Watch what you say" and pointed up - before he started talking to Kate.

Plot thickens

DOUBLE EDIT: Not to mention this was almost a perfect copy of the Jack/Cindy scene...
And Jack stuttered at the same question that he had asked Cindy just a week or so ago
No problem

I don't think we know completley what went on. There must be something else, not something like brain washing, maybe they know something more. "There's no way...you..." this bit was almost like when Patchy said she couldn't understand. Maybe he knows or has seen something that he can't explain or can't say while he's being watched, that made him feel differently?
Like Locke and his 'bright light' when he looked into the eye of the island. He got as far as saying that it was "beautiful" and "a white light" which doesn't really give us much either...
